A Little Less Miscommunication Please

Today we got yelled at......again. The class Sergeant and Chief walked into class and started yelling. We were all a little confused (even the other sergeants) when they started yelling at us for not being in uniform by having Camelbaks instead of canteens. You see, we had been briefed a few days before by one of our company sergeants to wear the Camelbaks and the ensuing chatter when they left was of frustration by the privates that the NCO's shouldn't blame them for following orders. But, so is the life in the Army. I guess at the end of the day you just keep your mouth shut and hope it's all settled. I love this, but it will be nice to get home.

One lesson I pull from this is one of love and forgiveness. It is very difficult and though I hate having to deal with it it is a very effective school where one must excel or be left behind in the dust of bitterness and hate. I've been there and I know it ruins one's outlook on life in general. Do I agree with their methods? No. I will never use them, but I have found that while they are here I can take advantage of it and grow in ways that I could not elsewhere. I've found that when you can do nothing to fight back against someone yelling at you and punishing you for what seems ridiculous reasons you find ways to rebel in your mind i.e. thinking how messed up they are or insulting their leadership abilities to yourself and talking about them later. Of course it isn't pretty when the others talk. I haven't ever stooped to that level. But I have found that I feel much the same way. The natural man screams JUSTICE!!!! but in the end, is life always just?

No.

The Atonement will make up for that eventually. But while we wait, principles of love and forgiveness must reign lest we give in and hate cankers our soul.

  1. Way to rise above. That quality will get you places in life that are refined and noble even in the most dire of situations. Good job.
